Coming Back Soon.

Been a while since I blogged. I guess it's because there's nothing really worth blogging about after you come back from such an awesome trip.

Maybe I should blog about the trip.

Back to normal.

[Current Mood : Bored, Angry]

Life is back to normal.

Just like normal life, shit happens (all the time). SOMEONE inkbombed my laptop. The screen is cracked in 3 places (looks like Wolverine's claw). I bought a replacement screen already and it set me back 160aud. Fark. I'm lucky I still have a bit left over from the vacation.

I really need a job. Quinton! Hook a brother up with Mannacom! I've applied for a few other places too. Hopefully I'll get lucky!

In other news, I miss Japanese tv. It's ok, I can watch at home :D

Fallout

[Current Mood : Bored]
[Current Music : Zazen Boys - Kurutte Kou]

After arriving in Brisbane, we kind of decided not to contact each other for at least a few days. I wonder how that is going... Apparently there's a new years eve party, maybe fate will have our paths cross once again.

It's the second day back now, I've been doing nothing at all. I haven't really started unpacking since most of it is clothes anyway. Haha, looking back, I don't have much to show for this trip; no souvenirs, not many anime figures, no games. I say that because a lot of the stuff I bought on the trip were winter jackets. Something I'll probably never wear in Australia. Oh well, I've got my fair share of good memories and an impressive photo album.

Speaking of photos and my memory, I'm going to start uploading photos to Facebook. You know what? Pictures AREN'T worth 1000 words. I doubt many of these photos will be interesting since only 6 other people were actually there.

I'll be uploading John's photos for him. Since he is lazy and inept in almost everything.

Speaking of John... I think I've cracked over 9000 gay jokes over the duration of the trip. All of which were tasteful and full of class. I think the only way that you (John) can avoid further gay jokes is to avoid me forever, or to actually turn gay. Turning gay would be the ultimate counter.

Tom : "You're totally gay, man"
John : "Yeah, so what"
Tom : "You love the co...... wait a sec... you actually do.. oh well"

Anyway, I'm off to upload these photos.

I might have SARS

Thanks to a certain SOMEONE (nah I don't blame you, Quinton), we're having a stop over in Hong Kong on the way back to Brisbane.

The flight here was good and bad. In-flight entertainment was great. There was video on-demand (not the awesome type, if you know what I mean ;) ).

BUT SHIT! I sat opposite a big tour group, and lucky me, I got to sit next to a little girl (not you, Quintonette). During the trip, she must've been a bit sick or something, she coughed and SPLATTERED ALL OVER MY FACE. OMG!

It doesn't end there. Later, her dad came over and FARTED ON MY FACE IM NOT EVEN JOKING IT ACTUALLY HAPPENED.

At the end of the flight, Puff got sweet (smelly) revenge, and farted on them.

I'm sitting all the way in the corner of the airport at Gate 70 waiting for my flight (which leaves in about an hour).

IT DOESN'T END THERE! WE ARE ACTUALLY HEADING TO CAIRNS NOW (the shittest airport known to men). I get home at 12:30noon.

I can't wait to see my family.

I guess that's all.

[Current Mood : Shit, Awesome]

It's a pity I haven't been blogging religiously, so there are plenty of holes in entries that I'll hopefully fill in when I get back to Australia (or on the plane depending on how my batteries hold up).

Hong Kong and Japan have been great fun, but I'm pretty much vacationed out. Putting up with these guys 24/7 for just shy of a month has been ... trying... to say the least. I guess it's like all things... everything in moderation. They are fine in small doses.

Since I can smell Quinton's "Things I will Miss" list before he even posts it. I think I'll just cut to the chase and list the things I will miss MOST about Hong Kong and Japan.

Hong Kong : Ladies Market
Japan : Hot Girls

I guess that's it. I'll blog again really soon. I only posted this to beat Quinton

Sayonara Tokyo =(...Too Corny?

Last night in Japan :( In some ways I'm ready to go home (missing everyone so much!)...but I'm also dreading going back to my normal, monotonous life. Actually, my life will be pretty different since I will be starting full-time work soon after returning home, and I will finally have weekends free for the first time in almost 8 years since I will no longer be working at my restaurant. Expect more entries in the future of me bitching about work.

Things I'm going to miss about Japan...

  • "KonBi" - It's great to be able to go to the nearest convenience store at any hour of the day to get cheap quality snacks. Onigiris and cup noodles are the ultimate combo!
  • Winter fashion - I'm going to miss dressing up in layers of clothing in preparation of the crazy, cold weather. I just wish I was rich enough to afford the "natch" jackets.
  • Food, food, food! - Food in Japan is awesome. Shabu-shabu, Yakiniku, sushi, ramen, curry, katsu...anything in Brisbane just fails in comparison.
  • Heated toilet seats in Winter - need I say more.
  • Looking out of the window everyday at the beautiful view of the city from the window of Taiki's 5-star apartment.
  • Taiki - awwww =P we're going to miss you buddy! Didn't get to see you as much as we wanted due to your crazy work schedule. Hopefully next time we visit you'll be CEO of NI and you can take more time off work to hang with us.
So this will be my last entry from Japan. I've still got 5 days worth of blogging to catch up on but I guess I'll be doing that back home. Well that's all for now. Sayonara Tokyo, and see you guys soon back in Brisbane!

P.S. I wanted to thank Mr. and Mrs. Hoshi for putting up with us for the past two weeks! I know we've been a nuisance but we really appreciate everything they've done for us. And Taiki, don't eat all the Wagyu =P

No.. I AM Otaku

[Current Mood : Nerdy]

[Current Music : Joypolis Theme Song]

No need to be a poser, Quinton, you don't have the slightest idea about being Otaku (more on this later). I guess, on an Otaku scale from 1 to 10, 1 being a
Logan Bogan, and 10 being the-Japanese-guy-that-pushed-me-over-to-get-to-a-figure-that-he-thought-i-was-going-to-buy, I'd be about a 6 or 7.

To be honest, I don't watch much (if any) anime these days, and I'm mainly caught up in re-watching/catching up on old series. I'm not interested by most of the new stuff, since it's mostly generic harem/robot/shonen formula shows. They don't make them like they used to, or... maybe I've just grown up...

Anyway, as Quinton already posted, we walked around Nakano today. It was my first time there, and I rate it better than Akiba. Mostly because you can buy full sets of figures for very low prices. It's a pity that I'm low on money, but I managed to almost complete Clara's shopping list. I bought a few sets for myself too.

It's a good thing we split up at Nakano, since we all have our own interests. I did a thorough twice over trip of 2 and 3F of Nakano Broadway and made my way to an arcade, where I played some Tekken and Street Fighter. The rest of them went their separate ways as well, but we met up for lunch.

You could fully tell that the guys were getting into the “Otaku Spirit” during lunch. It was pretty embarrassing when we were at the pseudo classy pasta restaurant and the guys took out their bags and went through their spoils. Rule number 1 of being Otaku, don't admit that you are an Otaku, and above all else, don't flaunt your spoils in public. It was the worst when John went through Puff's bag and brought out all kinds of hentai gashapons.
Oh dear.

I fought the urge and kept my treasure buried. You guys are scrub at Otaku. I could tell when you guys were discussing prices. Rule number 2 of being Otaku, price isn't an issue when your collection isn't complete. Clara knows this, that's why she's willing to pay $50 for that Death the Kid gashapon that I struggled sooo much to get.

After lunch, we went back to Nakano Broadway and I managed to find a few Tekken BR machines. Actually, I stumbled across them when I needed to take a leak desperately. Rule number 1 of busting in Japan; always look for an arcade. I was walking around a secluded ally/hallway, when I found a toilet sign pointing to another ally. At this point, I didn't really care how dodgy the place looked, so I followed the arrows and came across a Namco Arcade!? I rushed to the dunny, did my business, and long and behold, there were fliers for the new Tekken on the walls of the cubicle.

I played a bit and then went home. That night, we reflected on our experiences at Nakano...
